NR Investments has bought 95% of the concession company of Chisinau International Airport, the sole international airport in Moldova.
The Guernsey, Channel Islands based investment vehicle, completed its purchase of Komaksavia Airport Invest, owner of a 95% shareholding in Moldovan company, Avia Invest, the concession company of Chisinau Airport on 28 August.
The operations and management of Chisinau International airport transferred to Avia Invest in November 2013, under a private–public partnership model.
Since then, Avia Invest has overseen a full modernisation of the airport, including a new passenger terminal, runway and apron modernisation, multi-level car park and several other enhancements to the airport’s infrastructure.
Sixteen airlines operate from Chisinau, serving 38 destinations, includingLondon, Dublin, Paris, Istanbul and Moscow. In 2018, the airport handled 2.8 million passengers, a 14.8% cumulative annual increase since 2010. This year the total is expected to surpass three million passengers.
